Located in the heart of Tribeca, where New York’s industrial legacy meets modern urban living, 62–64 Reade Street stands as a testament to the seamless union of history and innovation. Inspired by the story of a couple who once lived and worked in these landmark buildings, the project brings new life to a heritage site — not by replacing the past, but by honoring it.

ODA’s design approach carefully reinterprets the structures through touch, light, and memory. Guided by Triton Construction and with adherence to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the original limestone façades have been meticulously restored. The connection between the two buildings is expressed rather than concealed, maintaining a visual trace of their distinct pasts now woven into one.

OPEN LIVING, PRESERVED MEMORY

The interiors reveal Tribeca’s raw charm with exposed wood beams, white oak flooring, fluted glass and steel doors, and brick-accented walls. Kitchens are elevated into social centers, complete with high-end finishes and considered design. Curved and rectangular windows share the same space—offering a visual dialogue between eras.

ELVIAL: A LINE THAT CONNECTS, NOT DIVIDES

At the heart of this adaptive reuse is ELVIAL’s MINIMAL LOOK SL52 HI2 system. Designed for high performance and understated presence, it delivers excellent thermal insulation and acoustic control. With ultra-slim profiles, it allows abundant daylight to enter while preserving the building’s historical character. It’s silent innovation—purposeful and refined.

A NEW STORY FOR A HISTORIC ADDRESS

62–64 Reade is more than a residential restoration. It’s a layered architectural narrative—one that respects the passage of time and captures the spirit of place. With the contribution of ELVIAL, the former clock factory becomes a contemporary sanctuary. A frame that, like a timepiece, doesn’t just measure time—it tells a story.

In this composition, ELVIAL plays a vital role, offering aluminum not only as a construction material, but as a true medium of architectural expression.
